So, I have read all sorts of long dissertations on what forgiveness means, what it involves, how to go about it and they all left me not feeling it, whether spiritual or philosophical, or physical healing perspectives, I have felt left out in the cold.
It was just given to dawn upon me: what we are seeking is acceptance: "I accept that I am hurt by your actions. I accept that you either could not or would not choose differently due to your own circumstances. I accept that you are hurting and do not acknowledge it for whatever reason. I accept that I hate what has been done. I accept I do not like how it feels. I accept that I do not like the results at this moment. I accept my need to express my feelings concerning this." and with all that acceptance I have peace within me restored. With that inner peace restored, I have already forgotten.
We do not need to make peace WITH our "brother" or neighbor or friend or lover, for they themselves may never be open to it- the great teaching is: make peace (within ourselves) BEFORE (while focused upon) our "brother, etc. and THAT is forgiveness.
