accent or speech impediment?
Most rural dialects and accents began as one parent's speech impediment. My son has a Rainbow accent. Screw their speech therapy; why should he speak like anyone but himself? That's Rhetorical- if they want to understand him easier, let them slow the fuck down, tune in to REALLY hear him and pay attention. He's worth it. He'll teach ya something. He wouldn't be able to do that so fully if he hadn't had the experiences with the people that influenced his speech. He wouldn't be unique if he didn't put his own twist on things like speaking. Where the hell else does "cool" slang come from? Thought provoking memes? They preach out the one side of their mouth that life is a challenge and the challenges make us stronger; I shouldn't shield my children. Out the other side of their mouth they preach I should make things easier for him socially and academically. Anything to unduly influence my parental choices. That's abusive; coercive persuasion. It's even illegal. Check the books. It's not my job to want anything for him. It's my job to create a safe environment for him to discover those answers for himself. Safe from split tongue stupidity; bless your heart.
